Q. Hi, am I correct in thinking these are 3 position on-off-on, 1-2-3 toggle switches, ie, 1 is on and stays on when selected, 2 is off and stays there when slected, and 3 is sprung, on when selected and returns to position 2 when released?
A. Hi Stuart, thank you for your question. This version is sprung in both the on positions, anything with a bracket is classed as momentary action (on) off (on). If you require a version as stated on latching and a on momentary then 75-0085 is what you would require.

Q. hi in the picture this switch looks locked on,rather than to the centre when the switch returning to the off central position.
A. Hi David, thank you for your question. The picture is just a standard image but the version advertised is in fact a momentary version so would latch in the centre position but not in either of the (on) positions.

Q. So are they biased ie Spring loaded so when released it springs back to the middle IE OFF If this is so why does the picture show it on with no ones finger holding it up?
A. Hi Dave. Thank you for your question. These are momentary (on) off (on) toggle switches so will return to off once activated.

Q. Just to make sure...these switches are centre-off at 'rest' position. When moved either forward or back (left or right) and then released, they return to centre-off. Please confirm.
A. Hi Don, thanks for your question. This is correct . (on) is used to denote momentary – ie only working whilst operated in that direction. When released it will return to the rest position, off in this case.

I'm building a control panel for a model railway and these switches are ideal for operating point motors; being sprung to return to the centre (off) position the 'on' time can be very short which significantly reduces the risk of burning out the point motors. However an even better solution is to also use a suitable capacitor discharge unit that both gives a sharp pulse and limits the through current. The switch action is firm and positive and there's an audible click as the contact is made. Altogether excellent switches.
