Power

Everything that powers and protects a circuit, from power supplies and transformers to batteries & chargers and fuses & circuit breakers. Rapid supplies power products for industrial, electronic and maintenance use across the four groups below.

How to choose the right power products

What does Rapid's power range cover?

The range splits into four areas: power supplies for converting and regulating voltage, transformers for changing and isolating it, batteries and chargers for portable and standby power, and fuses and circuit breakers for overcurrent protection. Start with the job the circuit needs doing and work from there.

Which power supply do I need?

Match the output voltage and current to your load, then choose the format: DIN-rail and open-frame units for panels, desktop and plug-in units for bench and appliance use, and DC-DC converters where you already have a DC rail. For critical loads that must stay on through an outage, add an uninterruptable power supply.

How do I protect a circuit against overcurrent?

Use a fuse for simple, low-cost protection you replace after a fault, or a circuit breaker where you would rather reset than replace. Whichever you choose, the current rating and breaking capacity must suit the circuit.

What batteries and chargers do you stock?

The range spans rechargeable and non-rechargeable cells, lead-acid batteries, holders and testers for portable equipment and standby supplies. Match the chemistry and capacity to the run time you need, then pair the cells with the right battery charger.

When do I need a transformer?

Fit a transformer to step a voltage up or down, or an isolation transformer to separate a circuit from the mains for safety. Toroidal, chassis and PCB types each suit different builds.
