This Recom DC to DC Single Output converter is from the R-78xx-0.5 series. The switching regulator is ideally suited to replace the 1A 78xx linear regulators and is pin compatible. The convertor has a high voltage input range, and an efficiency of up to 97%, meaning that very little energy is wasted as heat, so there is no need for any heat sinks with their additional space.

Typical applications include telecommunication, automotive, industrial, aerospace and battery powered applications.

Q. Can this device be used to produce negative 5 volts supply?

A. Thanks for your inquiry Doug. This product will only output the +5 volts as it will be stepping down from the higher input voltage.
