Sign InWe have class sets of soldering irons which get very oxidised and then ineffective, just balling up the solder rather than it sticking to the iron's tip. Coupled with a brass wool cleaning pad, this tinner/cleaner removes the black oxidisation and puts a new silver tinning on the tip.
Cleans iron with good tinning prior to starting soldering, and cleans iron during prolonged soldering session.
This really works - cleans and retins the tips a treat.
