07 April 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 58-0100
Q. the description title shows emitting diode but the tech spec and photo shows two items. The diode emitter and a phototransistor. If I placed an order for 58-0100 do I get both items? Hope I do?
A. Hi Mike. Thank you for your question. The image shown is representative of the range. 58-0100 is for the emitter diode only and 58-0105 is for the sensor diode.

Q. What is the furthest distance from the receiver that this will emit? Will it work with 55-0905?
A. Hi, thank you for your question. The description advises that the distance is 25mm max. 55-0905 is a frequency based product that works on set pulse patterns so yes it will respond - but you will have to get the pulse patterns to match to get a result.

Q. Do you know what is the largest range IR LED that you do?
A. Hi Alex, thanks for your question. 58-0114 is the most powerful of our IR emitters.

03 April 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 58-0105
Q. Can this detect standard tv remote signals, or just signals sent from its matched emitter?
A. Hi Rob, naturally this infrared sensor will be most responsive to its matched transmitter, but may also receive TV remote signals to a point. The most common wave lengths are 870nm, 930nm and 950nm so this one at 940nm is between 2 of them. TV remotes not only use the wavelength – but a carrier wave – typically (but not exclusively) 38KHz so you would need to also consider this.

06 March 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer
Q. Could i use just the sensor to pick up heat to detect an intruder for an alarm system (School project)? Thanks
A. Thanks for your enquiry Tom. No these do not pick up heat only the signal from a sensor (IR-infrared red ) and they only pick up up to 25mm away so they would not be that much use. You really want a PIR sensor.
