The Therma 1 is rugged and comes housed in a robust ABS case containing a 'Biomaster' additive, reducing bacterial growth. The thermometer operates through the range of +300 to +1372°C, with a 0.1°C or 1°C resolution and ±0.4°C ±0.1% accuracy. It is also simple to use and has been designed with an easy to read, LCD display with open circuit error, hold and low battery indication.

The thermometer is powered by 3 x AAA batteries (not supplied), giving a minimum of five years battery life. The unit will power off automatically after 10 minutes, maximising battery life (can be disabled, if not required).
