Question by: Product code: 50-6086

Q. Would this work with a 9V PP3 battery

A. Hi, thanks for your question. The solenoid is rated at 12v - it may partially work with a 9V battery; however it would be weak and it would not have the rated pull force. The battery would also drain quickly as the solenoid is rated at around 1A at 12V. We hope this helps.

Question by: Product code: 50-6086

Q. Does the rod stay out when power is still supplied or does it push and retract?

A. Hi Duncan, thank you for your question. While power is applied the rod will stay in. When the power is removed the spring causes the shaft to come out again.

Question by: Product code: 50-6086

Q. I would like to connect this in a circuit using a Genie microcontroller. What transistor would you recommend? Do I need to use a separate power supply for the solenoid? I will probably be using a 9v battery with a voltage regulator for the microcontroller. Thanks.

A. Hi Mr Mace, thank you for your question. A possible transistor to use would be 81-0228, but you would really need a 12V power supply for the solenoid.
