The Adafruit Perma-Proto HAT for Raspberry Pi is like a breadboard you can plug into your Pi but with the benefit of having the components soldered on and an EEPROM to conform to the HAT specification. The Perma-Proto boards are the next step on from a traditional breadboard and are useful once your prototype is working reliably. To ease the transition the Proto boards have a similar layout, 2 x rows of 5 x connected solder pads on either side of a trough with power busses top and bottom. With a bit of planning it could be possible to transfer your design almost pin for pin.
The Proto board has a blank 24C32 I2C EEPROM and connected to the EEDAT and EECLK signals that you can program according to the Raspberry Pi Foundations HAT specification. Please note that you can only have one HAT at a time though it is possible to have a HAT and other add-on boards.
Supplied as a full assembled and tested board plus a strip of double row 0.1in. pitch female header to solder on as required. Using other headers it is possible to get the Proto HAT to sit lower on the Pi, or with a long pin header to allow another board to be plugged in on top. Please not the the Proto HAT isn't compatible with the original Pi A or B, it is perfectly fine with the A+, B+ and everything that came after them.
