The Adafruit SI1145 I2C Digital UV Index / IR / Visible Light Sensors use individual visible and infra-red (IR) sensors and calculate the UV index accordingly. They are 3 to 5V compatible and communicate with almost any microcontroller over I2C. Should you need proximity measurements, you can add an IR LED to one of these sensor boards for a detection range between 10 and 500mm.
Adafruit supply a free tutorial and library to get you started with an Arduino, but the information should be applicable to most microcontrollers. Supplied as a fully assembled and tested board plus a strip of 01.in. header pins for you to solder on as required.
IR Sensor range: 550 to 1000nm (centred on 800nm)
Visible Light Sensor range: 400 to 800nm (centred on 530nm)
3 to 5V DC power supply
Dimensions 20 x 18 x 2mm (0.8 x 0.7 x 0.08in.)
Adafruit part no.: 1777
