23 January 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 55-2415
Q. Do I have to use current limiting components when I use this product.
A. Hi Andrew, thanks for your question. Limiting or protecting components are only required if the supply voltage is in excess of the voltage required by the unit – to effectively lose the unwanted voltage. In this case, provided the supply is between 10 & 12v there is no requirement (we would suggest 11V if possible)

Nice little flood lights for low power

Reviewed by: Gary Werner - 17 October 2017
I like these little modules because it is so easy to screw them down to something with the 3 holes, and the heat load is spread out nicely by having three 1-watt LEDs rather than one 3-watt LED. I use them mounted to 1/8" thick aluminum plate, no fancy cooling fins, just some plate. I have some of the warm white and some of the 6000 K or whatever, white white anyway. My only use so far is at about 10 volts, so they are under-utilized a bit. This is with a 3 cell LiFePO4 battery and no resistor needed with this low voltage. That is around 200 milliamps. Would rather run them at about 10.5 volts but would need a higher voltage battery then, and something to adjust the voltage down to optimum. They are flood lights, no spot in the center whatsoever. I don't use any lens in front of them. I tried the lens that is sold for this module and it wrecks the flood pattern, makes it lumpy.
