The Adafruit Metro Mini 328 is what you get when you take an Arduino UNO and build it using some of the smallest components available. Measuring only 18 x 44mm and a super slim 4mm high, the Metro Mini packs in all the functionality of the full-size Arduino. Based around the ATmega328 it has 32Kbytes of Flash, 2Kbytes of RAM and runs at 16MHz. It has 18 GPIOs including 6 x PWM, and 6 x analogue in, plus hardware support for SPI, I2C and serial UART. You can power the board from 6 to 16V DC or via the on board USB. Should you want, to there's a trace on the back of the board you can cut to make it operate at 3.3V.

As well as providing power the USB port is used for programming and for serial communications. The Metro Mini includes the SiLabs CP2104 - a high-quality USB-to-serial converter which performs as well or better than FTDI series converters.

There are four LEDs: power, Tx/Rx and one on PB5 just because. You will be pleased to know it's also breadboard friendly, but you'll be surprised to know it can be plugged into a 28-pin 0.6in. DIL socket!

Supplied as an assembled and tested board plus strips of 0.1in. header pins for you to solder on as required. Adafruit have linked to the FTDI VCP drivers if you are having issues with the Com port showing up properly with some versions of Mac and Windows. This is a fully open source design and the files are available on GitHub.
