Possibly not for a beginner , as this 8 bit parallel module needs a fair bit of control code to deliver ,( I used 12 I/O, RW tied to gnd, RES to Vdd ) however the results are clear and bright and fast, I used a 10R current limit resistor on the back light ( 65mA measured ) pity the pin-outs are not labelled on the board. You will need a 20k preset pot for the LCD contrast I used a single turn, possibly a muliturn would be better as it was a little difficult to set correctly.
