Q. I'm operating these LEDs at room temperature. Is the aluminium base sufficient to dissipate the heat produced when operating at the typical electrical values, or do I need to use an additional heat sink of some kind?
A. Hi Adrian, thank you for your question. It can depend on how long they are being run for. They will benefit from having a heat sink also attached as to dissipate the extra heat - these will get very hot quickly so always worth having extra to help the unit run at optimum efficiency. Often large bits of aluminium can be backed to the original heat sink to help, unless there is a very good air flow to help if not.
