Scola Air-Hardening Clay has all the qualities of traditional clay except that it doesn't require firing, making it ideal for younger and less experienced modellers. It is reinforced with synthetic fibres for additional strength and a low shrinkage rate. Drying time will obviously vary according to the thickness and size of the model. Incomplete models can be kept workable under a damp cloth so that modelling can be spread over more than one session. More advanced potters can also use this versatile and economical clay as it can be fired if required. Finished models can be coated in PVA glue and decorated with acrylic paint.

02 November 2018 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0641
Q. At what room temperature do you store Scola air-hardening clay? During the winter would it be best to keep it in a heated studio or unheated workshop? How long can I keep the clay without using it before it goes hard and is unusable? Thank you.
A. Hi Peter, thank you for your question. As long as the pack is sealed then it shouldn't dry out. Reseal the bag well after opening to keep air out. For an opened bag we would seal it and then place it into another outer bag to make sure. We do not appear to have any information regarding the minimum and maximum storage temperatures. We would suggest avoiding extreme cold and frost.

09 April 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0641
Q. Hi Have just bought 12.5 kilos of Scola Clay. I am a miniaturist and therefore will only use a little at a time. How would you suggest I keep it between use as it might be several weeks between use and will clearly start to dry out if exposed to air
A. Hi Linda. Thank you for your question. Just make sure the bags are sealed really well - as they are delivered - and the clay will stay in the same form as it is originally - as long as they are not exposed too long in air they should last a long time.
