Q. Is the 5v dc O/P pure enough to drive an amplifier designed for use with a computer without hum?
A. Hi Keith, thank you for your question. This is intended to be used as a charger for USB devices. Most switch mode supplies of this nature will cause some sort of audible noise in audio equipment, usually as a high pitched sound rather than a hum or both. We would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the amplifier for recommended AC adaptor types. We cannot guarantee that this would be noise free.

Appears to be of good quality, and looking at the output on an oscilloscope with, and without a load shows reasonable filtering. After an hour at full load the psu was only just warm.
