Q. Do these parts require a heat sink, if so can you recommend a suitable heasink. The data sheet does not mention heat sink.
A. Hi Steve. Thank you for your question. This unit will definitely benefit from some heat dissipation otherwise it will fail after a while – but the customer could get away with it for short periods of a few seconds – but may not suit their application.
There is not specific heatsink suggested for this unit but attaching to any metal surface, preferably using a heat transfer paste such as 87-1130 to assist, will usually be adequate – the larger the better – some fan assisted air movement would also be of benefit but this is an extra option and depends where the unit is to be located.

Q. Hi, Vtyp is given as 10 volts. what is the lowest voltage at which these untis will operate ? I'm hoping to use one as a pushbike headlamp, powering from a 6V battery.
A. Hi Tom, thanks for your question. The modules will only light up at 7.6 volts - that is the lowest at which they are able to run.
