Q. Hi, can you suggest the appropriate nut and bolt required for mounting this TO-220 package onto a heat sink, thanks.

A. Thanks for your question. The heat-sink you intend to use will determine the length of the M3 bolt required. 10mm is standard such as order code 33-2305 and a suitable M3 nut 33-1710.

Reviews

LM317 can give closer tolerance

7805 is accurate enough for most purposes. The LM317 offers tighter tolerances but you need to justify two extra resistors, a set pot and the need to set the set pot.
