Send and receive SMS messages from your Arduino with the GSM Shield 2, or make and receive phone calls, or even surf the net. Plug this neat little board into your Arduino, add a SIM and you are ready to begin. The board is open source giving you acces to the schematics and its free GSM software library. This version of the board has a connector for an external aerial, another version is available which has an on-board aerial (73-6505).
The shield uses the Quectel M10 quad-band GSM/GPRS modem which supports GSM850MHz, GSM900MHz, DCS1800MHz and PCS1900MHz. TCP/UDP and HTTP protocols are supported through a GPRS connection with a maximum transfer speed of 85.6kbits/s. The modem firmware is updateable via the serial link and can be controlled using AT commands.
