Q. Hi I want to use this knife for intricate craft work.. is it possible to hold the knife close to the tip to allow for more stable hand guidance throughout the cutting process? Thanks in advance
A. Hi Gavin, thank you for your question. No this can only be held on the yellow part as the complete tip will be hot.

28 April 2017 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Would this be suitable for cutting and re-shaping the polystyrene used in a car to secure a spare wheel? I need to fit a larger wheel so need to remove some sections to do this!
A. Hi Simon, thank you for your question. Yes this Antex electric hot knife will cut polystyrene.

14 March 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Would this tool be suitable for cutting through ribbon - would it seal edges to stop fraying?
A. Hi Sam, thank you for your question. The blade is not sharp but the heat would cut and seal the edges.

16 December 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Can it cut and seal synthetic thin lining fabric
A. Hi Margaret, thank you for your question. It should be suitable for this application.

18 November 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Will it be suitable to cut 10mm thick EVA foam floor tiles
A. Hi Brian, thank you for your question. This is suitable for polystyrene and zote foam only.

02 October 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Hello Rapid I have read that this knife is unsuited for vinyl records. I have watched the vinyl chapter on you tube where she uses a hot knife to cut the vinyl to make wall art. Could you suggest something more suitable
A. Hi Make It Workshop CIC, thank you for your question. This is only suitable for polystyrene and foam. We do not have anything suitable for cutting vinyl unfortunately.

03 September 2014 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Would the knife be suitable for cutting polyester fabric to leave a sealed, fray resistant, edge?
A. Hi Andy. Thank you for your question. This hot knife is designed to cut thin expanded polystyrene, as such we would not recommend it for your application as it will more than likely melt the fabric than cut it.

11 August 2014 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. do you know of a product which would cut 6mm to 8mm pvc sheet
A. Hi Adam. Thank you for your question. This is unlikely to effectively cut 6-8mm PVC.

28 October 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. hi. would this knife be able to cut through 25mm thick candle wax? thanks, Neil
A. Hi Neil. Thank you for your question. This would cut through thick candle wax however, it may take a bit of time due to the thickness of the wax and may not be a straight through cut but would do what is required.

19 April 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Hi, would this be suitable to cut foam for outdoor cases such as peli case foam?
A. Hi Michael. Thank you for your question. This type of hot knife would be suitable for cutting this type of foam.

06 March 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. WOULD THIS KNIFE BE SUITABLE FOR CUTTING SAIL CLOTH, WHICH IS A LIKE A 1MM THICK WOVEN PLASTIC? I NEED TO MAKE 6 INCH PATCHES AND LOTS OF THEM AND I NEED THIS TO LAST ON AN ONGOING BASIS...WILL IT STAY THE COURSE? tHANKS SO MUCH
A. Hi Tracie. Thank you for your question. This is very unlikely to last long and would not work for this task. A better option would be 85-1019 which has a hot tip option.

01 May 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Would the knife be suitable for cutting vinyl records
A. Hi Una, unfortunately this hot cutting knife wouldn't be suitable for your requirements as the vinyl records are too dense for this product to cut effectively.

19 April 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Would this be suitable for cutting polypropylene woven weed control fabric?
A. Hi, thanks for your question. We have not tried doing this, but cannot see any reason why not in principle. But this fabric would be denser than the expanded polystyrene mentioned, so may not get hot enough to work well.

17 April 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Is this knife suitable for cutting 3 strand polyester rope?
A. Hi Anthony, thanks for your question. Yes this would be suitable.

12 December 2011 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-0734
Q. Is this knife suitable for cutting 40mm thick polystyrene?
A. Thanks for your query Bill - I'm afraid the cutting tip of this knife if only 25mm long so it would not be suitable for your needs.

Really works a charm. Such a simple and effective design and does exactly as intended. Even comes with a lovely little stand to keep the heated blade from touching your work surface.
