Intelliconnect connectors remain waterproof when disconnected

Intelliconnect connectors remain waterproof when disconnected
Rapid has recently introduced an innovative series of IP68 connectors from Intelliconnect which remain waterproof even when they are disconnected.

There is no shortage of waterproof connectors available on the market, yet most have to be mated in order to be fully waterproof as the casing itself acts as the seal. In many circumstances which require disconnection for calibration, repair, module exchange and connection of other equipment this may be inadequate, and cause critical damage to vital equipment.

RF connector specialist Intelliconnect has solved this problem with the development of its Pisces range of connectors, adaptors and cable assemblies. Both the plugs and jacks remain waterproof when disconnected protecting vital equipment and cabling from damage.

Available from Rapid in SMA, TNC and N Type connector options, the Pisces connectors can be terminated to many LMR, RG, Semi-Rigid and Semi-Flexible types of cable.

The Pisces connector series extends the range of potential applications. These include video camera security, environmental monitoring ocean buoys, traffic cameras, coastguard/HM customs patrol boats, personal locator beacons, military radios/communication systems, environmental monitoring, water management and vehicle tracking. Other potential applications are cochlear implant devices, high quality antennas, personal locator beacons, petrochemical monitoring equipment, traffic indication systems and environmental monitoring.

Janice Ratcliffe of Rapid Electronics said: “It is essential in some applications that connectors remain waterproof, so these new Intelliconnect connectors are a real breakthrough for designers working with IP68 rated applications. I am delighted that Rapid is stocking these jacks, plugs and adaptors in SMA, TNC and N Type variants.”
