Darlington transistor array, 8 drivers, CMOS input compatibility, 500mA peak output current, 50V output voltage, 50V switching voltage, 0.25us delay time, -20 to +85°C, 18-DIP case, the ULN2801A-ULN2805A each contain eight Darlington transistors with common emitters and integral suppression diodes for inductive loads.

Q are these through hole or surface mount?

Ideal for building interface for computers

Using this chip it is possible to build a forgiving interface to link computer output to relays ... relays are ideal for operating most everyday technology applications such as motors. It is all straightforward wiring for the novice and a self build will save much cost. Also used these in a project to pick up light from programmed light patches on monitor using multiple LDRs in a potential divider input - ideal for very many independent outputs - ideal in model railways.
