Using this chip it is possible to build a forgiving interface to link computer output to relays ... relays are ideal for operating most everyday technology applications such as motors. It is all straightforward wiring for the novice and a self build will save much cost.
Also used these in a project to pick up light from programmed light patches on monitor using multiple LDRs in a potential divider input - ideal for very many independent outputs - ideal in model railways.
