Scola Air-Hardening Clay has all the qualities of traditional clay except that it doesn't require firing, making it ideal for younger and less experienced modellers. Drying time will obviously vary according to the thickness and size of the model. Incomplete models can be kept workable under a damp cloth so that modelling can be spread over more than one session. More advanced potters can also use this versatile and economical clay as it can be fired if required. Finished models can be coated in PVA glue and decorated with acrylic paint.

17 September 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 06-5433
Q. Is it possible to make a slip out of the clay as we are hoping to make some 2 colour medieval tiles using the terracotta as the base colour but need to be able to add a second colour into the mould fairly rapidly.
A. Hi Anne, thank you for your question. You would need to colour the clay using paint once it sets. Adding colour at any other stage may impair the product setting properly.
