The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB Starter Kit is designed to simplify initial setup and development. It includes a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with 4GB of RAM, a USB-C power supply, a 32GB microSD card, and a 2 metre HDMI cable. The microSD card is supplied blank, allowing users to install an operating system of their choice based on project requirements.
The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B represents a major advancement over the previous generation, offering significantly improved processor speed, multimedia capabilities, memory bandwidth, and connectivity, while maintaining backward compatibility and similar power consumption. It is powered by a Broadcom BCM2711 64-bit quad-core processor and supports dual 4Kp60 display output via micro-HDMI. The board includes hardware video decoding for high-resolution media, dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 ports, and optional Power over Ethernet support via a separate PoE HAT.
Wireless LAN and Bluetooth modules are certified under modular compliance, which reduces the regulatory burden when integrating the board into commercial products. This certification streamlines product development by lowering compliance testing requirements, saving both time and cost. The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B delivers desktop-class performance comparable to entry-level x86 systems, making it suitable for a wide range of engineering and embedded applications.
4GB Starter Kit Contains:
Raspberry Pi model 4, 4GB
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Official PSU
32GB MicroSD card (blank)
2m HDMI Cable
The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Series will remain in production until at least January 2031, ensuring long-term availability and making it a dependable choice for future-proof product development.
Q. Does this board have the relevant upgrade to overcome the know recent USB C charger problem?
A. Hi David, thank you for your question. As far as we are aware this issue is down to the type of USB C charger rather than the board, specifically smart type chargers like those shipped with Macbooks that do not operate correctly. We recommend these are only used with the charger supplied with the kit.

Wow! The Raspberry Pi comes of age!

I bought the 4Gb RAM version, because I was interested to see how it would perform against a similarly specified netbook. Once I'd identified the right power supply to use with it (the Apple ones are useless, by the way), formatted and written a Raspbian micro SD card (Balena Etcher is my preferred tool for this), found a suitable micro HDMI to ordinary HDMI lead, and plugged it all together, I gave it its first boot. The OS re-sized itself and rebooted. Once configured, I tried it against an Acer netbook.... The Pi is (roughly) five times faster!
This little machine is good enough for day to day computing. I've since built three "miniature desktop" machines for the benefit of aging relatives. They think that they're fabulous!
Highly recommended!
A big upgrade!

Previously, one had to wait around for quite some time for the Pi3 to get its act together. This is a massive upgrade in terms of speed and usability. I have been using it as a main computer and it is very capable. I could quite easily see our school using a set of these as desktop replacements.
