The Discostat thermal cut-out is a 3-phase, manual reset device that utilises a bi-metallic disc as the temperature sensing element. Because the disc is pressed directly against the mounting plate of the thermal cut-out there is a swift reaction to changes in temperature and as soon as the preset temperature is reached, the disc operates and simultaneously opens all 3 electrical contacts. The thermal cut-out must be reset by pressing the reset tab. The cut-out is ideal for electrical devices with three-phase connection, where the power supply must be interrupted permanently when the preset temperature is reached. Typical applications are commercial hot water appliances and storage heaters, etc.
