A design for a fully-featured motor shield that can power many simple to medium-complexity projects. Amongst the features included in this kit are servo connections from dedicated timer, 4x H-Bridges with chipset to run motors on 4.5 to 36V DC, up to 4x bi-directional motors with individual speed selection, up to 2x stepper motors with multiple stepping types, big terminal block connectors for easy and versatile connections, provision for connecting external power.
2x Connections for 5V 'hobby' servos connected to the Arduino's high-resolution dedicated timer, with no jitter
4x H-Bridges: L293D chipset provides 0.6A per bridge (1.2A peak) with thermal shutdown protection, internal kickback protection diodes. Can run motors on 4.5 to 36V DC
Up to 4x bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection (gives approx. 0.5% resolution)
Up to 2x stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil or interleaved stepping
Pull down resistors that keep motors disabled during power-up
Big terminal block connectors to easily hook up wires (10-22AWG) and power
Arduino reset button brought up top
2-pin terminal block and jumper to connect external power
Tested compatible with Arduino Mega 1280 and 2560, Diecimila, Duemilanove, and UNO
