The Dobot Explorer (Basic Education Edition) Quadruped Robot is a mobile robotics platform designed for education, research and development applications. Its point-legged quadruped design delivers stable movement across varied terrain, with a maximum speed of 1.8m/s, climbing capability of 30–35° and the ability to overcome obstacles up to 16cm. The platform supports payloads from 3kg to 7kg, enabling use in a wide range of practical robotics scenarios.
The system integrates onboard sensing, AI processing and connectivity to support autonomous navigation and interaction. It is equipped with dual front and rear 1080p RGB cameras alongside depth cameras for environmental perception, supporting functions such as SLAM, obstacle avoidance and active following. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and optional 4G, allowing flexible remote operation and data transmission.
Designed for development and learning, the Explorer provides a simulation environment via Isaac Gym and includes C++ and Python SDKs supporting both low-level and high-level control. Open APIs enable access to joint torque, gait parameters, motion control and action state switching, with pre-built application examples to accelerate deployment in motion and navigation tasks. Voice interaction and AP control further extend usability in educational and experimental environments.
