Ask one robot arm to press a delicate connector home and another to stack boxes onto a pallet, and you're asking for two very different machines. One needs a sense of touch. The other needs reach and muscle. Agile Robots builds both, and the range is now available through Rapid.
The Diana cobots are the ones with the sense of touch. Every joint has its own torque sensor, so the arm can feel how hard it's pushing and back off when something resists, which is exactly what you want when fitting parts, testing boards or working alongside people. They also have seven axes rather than the usual six, so they can reach around obstacles and into awkward spaces much as a human arm would. The compact Diana 3 handles up to 3kg within 600mm and suits light assembly, inspection and laboratory automation, with buttons and a handle on the arm so you can guide it through a task by hand. Need more capacity? The Diana 7 carries 7kg out to 923mm, with ±0.05mm repeatability for precision pick-and-place in electronics and automotive work.
When the job is about throughput, the Thor 6-axis robotic arms take over. Every model has collision detection and can be taught by hand or programmed graphically, so getting started doesn't depend on a specialist programmer. The Thor 7 repeats to ±0.03mm with a 7kg payload, which makes it a natural fit for machine tending and small-part handling. Moving bigger parts? The Thor 12 lifts 12kg across a 1,300mm reach for machine loading and end-of-line packaging. At the top, the Thor 20 handles 20kg out to 1,700mm, ready for palletising and heavy components.
