The Analog Devices ADALM1000 which is often referred to as the M1K is a compact, USB powered active learning module designed to teach and explore fundamental concepts in electronics and electrical engineering. It acts as a combination of an oscilloscope, waveform generator, and source measure unit (SMU), making it a low cost, portable lab that works with a laptop or tablet.
The ADALM1000 is an easy‑to‑use learning tool intended for students, hobbyists, and engineers to understand real‑world analogue behaviour such as voltage, current, impedance, and device characteristics. It is widely used in education, self study, and low frequency circuit experimentation.
- Two analogue channels that can each generate or measure signals.
- Voltage range: 0 to 5 V
- Current range: –200 mA to +200 mA
- Sampling rate: up to 100 kSPS, 16‑bit resolution.
- Supports continuous streaming of voltage and current.
- Works with PixelPulse2, ALICE, MATLAB, Python, and open‑source libraries like libsmu.
- USB‑powered, compatible with Windows, Linux, macOS.
