The Ciseco SRF shield brings low power wireless data transfer to the Arduino. It is low cost, zero configuration and the option to add an external SMA antenna for increased range make this board a key enabler for the Internet of Things. You can use the PAN ID configuration (Personal Area Network) with 65,000 possible adresses and AES encryption (off by default) to differentiate and secure your particular group of Things. Should you need inspiration or maybe some examples, there are thousands of them on the internet, simply look for XBee serial comms. Wireless transmission data rates of 250kbits per second are possible with serial data rates up to 115kbits per second.
One of the most exciting things about this shield is that you can program the Arduino wirelessly! There's no need to unplug the shield, change jumpers or reset switches when you want to upload your firmware. Almost as exciting is the support for LLAP, the Lightweight Logical Application Protocol. If you have a device that supports LLAP, this shield will talk to it.
