The micro:bit is the low cost computer designed to get children started with coding and embedded computing. It also has a more serious aim of addressing the skills shortage in the technology sector.
Simply choose your programming language – from the visual Javascript and Microsoft Block Editor to the popular text-based editor Python – and start coding. Make the integrated 25 red LEDs flash a message, use the buttons to control games, detect motion or interact with other devices. Programmes can be downloaded via a USB cable or Bluetooth 4.0.
You can also use the micro:bit to code the Bit:Bot range of mini robots – see some of the projects we have developed, such as using the micro:bit as a remote controller for your robot, and programming light sensors.
5 x 5 LED matrix display

You can now order a micro:bit from Rapid – either just the board itself or a kit which also includes a USB cable, battery holder and batteries – as well as a complete range of add-on boards, accessories and robotic applications.
