This stainless steel housed Platinum Reesistance Thermometer is a sensor used to measure temperature by measuring the change in resistance of the probe. The sensor material exhibits a predictable change in resistance as the temperature changes; it is this predictable change that is used to determine temperature.
PRTs are slowly replacing the use of thermocouples in many industrial applications below 600°C, due to their higher accuracy and repeatability.
