Van Damme's plasma grade miniature video coaxial cable has been specifically designed to provide the best 75Ω performance possible for a small diameter video cable. It is mechanically based on RG179 and uses this BNC crimp type for robust terminations.
This type of video coaxial cable is ideal for rack wiring and multi-pin breakouts where a small overall diameter is essential and provides a rugged and flexible video cable for the presentation, video and broadcast industries.
Van Damme now use a higher purity oxygen free copper for the conductors – Ultra pure oxygen free copper (UPOFC). The use of this material further improves the conductivity of the video coaxial cable resulting in faithful and accurate picture information transmission.
Foam skin polyethylene is used for the conductor insulation ensuring that the conductor is well protected. The skin refers to the outer layer of the insulation, which forms during the extrusion process. Other relevant properties include good stress and temperature resistance.
As with Van Damme's standard 75Ω coaxial cable, the high density of copper conductors used in the overall braid provides an effective connection between the video coaxial cable and the crimp ferrule of BNCs when terminated to give excellent screening and mechanical strength.
