The TinyCircuits TinyShield Bluetooth shield uses the Microchip RN42 miniature Bluetooth 2 module with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). It easily lets you communicate wirelessly between the TinyDuino and your computer via a standard serial port using Bluetooth Serial Port Profile mode (SPP). Once paired this works just like you are connected using USB to your TinyDuino except without the wire. Since the entire Bluetooth software stack is contained in the module there is no programming required, simply set the baud rate in your sketch and use the Arduino Serial.read/write functions. This TinyShield is ideal for wireless communication between your PC or smartphone and the Bluetooth module for short ranges (up to 20m) and can support high data rates (up to 2.0Mbit/s). This TinyShield incorporates circuitry to operate over the TinyDuino operating range from 3.3 to 5V DC. Apple iPhones / iPad users should use the Bluetooth Low Energy Shield (73-4776) instead.
