The TinyCircuits TinyShield USB & ICP adds USB support to the TinyDuino having a micro-USB connector and using the very popular FTDI USB to serial converter IC. Stack this board with your TinyDuino and download new sketches via the Arduino IDE or add USB communication capabilities to your projects. An essential function is the use of the DTR line from the FTDI IC to support auto-resetting into the processor's boot-loader, keeping the process of downloading sketches as simple as possible. Should you need to program the Atmel microcontroller on the TinyDuino directly using an external programmer, a 6-pin In Circuit Programming (ICP) connection is also available on this board (the header is not included by default. The ICP connector uses the size and pinout of the new Atmel standard and this can be used directly with newer external programmers like the Atmel JTAGICE 3. The board has RX and TX status LEDs so you can observe the serial traffic to and from your TinyDuino.
This board is included in the TinyDuino Basic Kit (73-4748) and the TinyDuino Starter Kit (73-4749).
