Q. If the USB circuit shuts down how can it be reset?
A. Hi Tony, thank you for your question. There is no reset for these as they are mains connected. If they fail it will be the small transformer in the rear of the panel that has failed.
Q. Hi, I was wondering if the circuitry for the chargers in this faceplate is current sensing and as such switches off when not in use.
As chargers are reported to be a main source of fires when people leave them plugged in overnight, I want to ensure that I am not introducing a fire risk into my house.
A. Hi David. Thank you for your question. According to the manufacturer it does have some current sensing: the USB charging sockets are compatible with items such as smartphones, tablets, media players, digital cameras, and other devices that require charging via a USB port. The USB charging sockets are limited to 2 amps (combined), if the current exceeds this it will automatically shut down to protect your device.

Just installed these last week. Working well so far. The USB sockets announce themselves as 1A capable each and my Samsung and Tesco Hudl devices dutifully take 1A. You need to have plenty of space in the mounting box though, and you may have to clip out extra mounting clips etc from said box.

I purchased two of these units some time ago and fitted one in my kitchen and one in my daughter's kitchen, both replacing existing twin 13a socket outlets. They have proved to be very useful and used for i-phone and i-pad battery charging without the need to unplug something before charging. The question raised by David Brown made me think about the integrity of the chargers but the specification for these units indicates compliance with BS EN 60950 for IT Equipment Safety and BS 5733 for Accessories. Also considering that the battery impedance will progressively limit the current until the fully charged battery voltage is reached there is really nothing to worry about. It really is a fine example of a simple idea put into practice. Every house should have one of these.

I saw a similar product on another site but they didn't do one in white. A quick bit of research and I found this outlet with the USB outlet for charging phones/tabs etc.
Easy to fit but check that the patress is at least 25mm deep as the back of the socket is a little bigger than standard. have put them in kitchen bedrooms and living room.
Have to give Rapid credit as well for their speed of delivery. Ordered in the afternoon and they arrived in post the next day.
Highly recommended.
