Newclay Air-Hardening Clay has all the qualities of traditional clay except that it doesn't require firing, making it ideal for younger or less experienced modellers. However it's also perfect for adults as well, because it can be kiln-fired with exceptional results if desired.
Newclay is characterised by being non-sticky and has low shrinkage during drying. It is malleable and can be used with professional pottery tools. It air dries without the need for heating and, as it is nylon reinforced, it doesn't go brittle.
Drying times vary according to the thickness and size of the model. Incomplete models can be kept workable under a damp cloth so that modelling can be spread over more than one session. Finished models can be coated in PVA glue and decorated with acrylic paint.
