The SFG GW Instek SFG-1013 is an economic function generator with high
accuracy and high stability output, that has been designed based on the DDS
(Direct Digital Synthesized) technology embedded in a large scale FPGA.
The 3MHz frequency range and the output waveform selection of Sine, Square,
Triangle and TTL available in the GW Instek SFG-1013 adequately provide the
fundamental functions required to ensure high confidence in test results. The
DDS technology at an affordable price gives a high value solution to the users
who need a signal source for accurate but simple measurement
applications.
Q. Does this unit have USB or serial programming interface
A. Hi John, thank you for your question. This unit does not have either a USB or serial port for programming.

Pro's;-
1) Ease of use(up and running within 2 minutes of unpacking).
2) Excelent front panel layout including output on/off switch.
3) The TTL output provides a stable reference for LF Phase locked loop(PPL) design experimentation.
4) The ability to select Frequency step changes(eg. Hz, 10Hz, KHz..etc)provides a stable signal for plotting frequency response of Filters etc.
5) Ultra-low distortion, great for Noise measurements of Amplifiers.
6) The Voltage display is a bonus, releasing up at least one of my Digital Multi-Meters
7) The adjustable mark/space ratio of the main Square wave-form is ideal for testing Impulse response of Filters/Amplifiers
Con's;-
None that are evident over use in the last 2 months.
Summing up;-
For Profesionals and Hobbists alike. The price, specifications and overall performance ticks all the boxes.
On my opinion, a must for any work bench.
