The Franzis Internet of Things Maker kit gets you off to a flying start with your next (or first) IoT project, with its Arduino compatible Pretzel main board, a range of useful components and a comprehensive tutorial manual. The Pretzel main board is an Arduino Nano compatible design which is linked via a serial channel to an ESP8266 wireless module that has become the go to device for IoT applications. The included manual guides you through a series of projects to help you get the most out of the kit, including data communications via UDP, controlling LEDs via UDP, a network pager, media centre control, a Twitter alarm system and more. Network access methods are explored including UDP, TCP-client, TCP-server plus the C/C++ programming language and ThingSpeak, an IoT application for data collection.
