16 January 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 81-0172
Q. Does the transistor need electrical isolation from its heatsink (according to the instructions for my project, the collector is connected to the heat tab)? If so, do you sell an insulator?
A. Hi Steve. Thank you for your question. As the securing tab is also connected to the collector of the item – it would be desirable to isolate the heatsink from it – unless for any reason you needed it to go to earth or a common rail via the heatsink. 38-0212 would be a suitable insulator and bush set, especially if combined with nylon screws and washers.
