This is a great little receiver great fun to use and build and at the price is a perfect project. However in very rare circumstances of a very strong signal you might have some selectivity problems so I share this with you.
If you are close to the transmitter. I am 2.5Km away from a 2000 Watt transmitter on 1197 KHz and 2.75Km away from a 320 Watt transmitter on 1242KHz and there is only 15 degrees difference in the direction.
With a battery voltage of 1.6 volts I cannot pick up the weaker station but with a battery of 1.1 volts I can. So you'll find its better to use an old battery with this if you have a strong signal.
For background on this Google "MK484 Selectivity strong signal problem" or replace MK484 with TA7642 or ZN414 in your search.
Overall this will effect very few people so I still highly recommend this set and I have bought the 20 kits for teaching purposes.
