National Technology Day 2023

National Technology Day 2023
Today is National Technology Day, and we celebrate and remember the global technological achievements which have shaped humanity today. We recognise the impact that Technology has had on society. From revelations in criminology to life-saving technological advancements within the healthcare industry, our reliance on Technology is undeniable.

From two million years ago, with the creation of stone tools, to the present day where we live in the digital age with advanced technologies that are changing the way we live for the better.

Technology shows no limits, from Artificial Intelligence with robotics, AI-based medical devices, and 3D printing to rockets being sent more profoundly into space exploration.

Examples of the key achievements of Technology are:
July 20th 1969, at 20:17 UTC: The day Apollo 11 was the first spaceflight to land humans on the Moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the two American astronauts who successfully landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle. The Apollo 11 mission gave Humankind the first insight into Earth from Space, paving the way for Space travel, sophisticated technologies and achieving the impossible.

In 1989 a computer scientist called Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web (WWW) to meet the global demand for information sharing among scientists internationally. Then, on April 30th, 1993, he released the WWW to the public domain, free of cost to all, to maximise its dispersal. Consequently, the WWW succeeded and sparked the collaboration of wisdom and innovation, which Humankind had never encountered before.

Apollo 11 and the creation of the WWW are examples of Technological advancements that have changed and still are changing the world. Today, we recognise and honour them.

With all these achievements, we notice the two-way pattern between Technology and education. We thank education as learning, and educating is the key to society's development. We thank Technology for the opportunity of worldwide learning through the tools provided for education and growth. The accessibility to online resources is readily available to students from early years to University level to expand their skills as they grow.

Technology offers valuable life skills and shows significant career opportunities. Moreover, tech jobs are among the fastest-growing divisions in the future workplace, making its position within STEAM highly important.
Therefore, Educational Institutions need to shape and empower the future of Industry and the Engineers of tomorrow to deliver the necessary technological skills for the future economy. Furthermore, through exploring Technology, children better understand and value innovation whilst learning necessary 21st-century skills and the possibility of developing critical thinking and analysis.

Here at Rapid Education, we recognise the importance of Technology within STEAM and hence, we partner with the best innovators in education technology, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Micro:bit, United Robotics, Softbank, Dobot, Tektronix and more, with access to strong supply chain management, to ensure that we can offer the complete STEAM package. As a result, we provide the opportunity for students to explore and fulfil their passions and learn essential skills to achieve their potential in our modern-day world to prepare them for accomplishing future technological advancements themselves.
