27 February 2013 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 57-2216
Q. What is going on with the backlight on this? Data is via the standard 14 pin connector, there are no pins for the backlight. There is one, I now have it lit, but I had to wire it up directly onto the LED with a current limiting resistor. There are a lot of unpopulated components around the backlight section. Not sure what the plan was, but it's not ideal having to bodge power to the backlight .
A. Hi Dave. Thank you for your question. The backlight is powered directly onto the led via a resistor. The manufacturer states exactly that the same board is used for their OLED screens and the missing components are fitted only on the OLED versions. See the data sheet for backlight information.

Q. i want to solder a socket onto the display (2 x 7 pin IDC ?). What plug would be suitable ?
A. Hi Vince, thank you for your question. As the pins are on a 2.54 pitch grid, a 14 way IDC or PCB socket would work: unfortunately we don’t currently offer a suitable product but it is possible to remove the last three rows from 19-0285 with care.

17 July 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 57-2214
Q. Hi , Can this display be used with the Genie micros? I know they have their own,but it is too large for my application. Thanks
A. Hi Craig, thanks for your question. In theory this could be possible – but may be very complex to achieve as the Genie uses its own programming that is already installed into their own product. We would not recommend attempting this without contacting the Genie manufacturer's first for advice as to the practicality of it.

Q. If you wanted this to only display one line of text would it take up the whole screen or just the top row? Thanks in advance
A. Hi, thanks for your question. The text would be displayed on one row rather than the whole screen.
