Q. Would this meter read PPM or Vu or both?

A. Hi Peter. Thank you for your question. This VU meter kit will read VU, there is a setting to change the display from bar or dot. Unfortunately it will not read PPM.

Ok once built, solder tracing isn't very robust

It's a lot more complicated than it seems. The LEDs have to be offset from the pcb, which makes it hard to solder them all the same height. While doing so, one of the pcb tracing contacts for the LEDs came off... So now one of the LEDs doesn't light up.
