A family company with global reach
Bert Draper began selling government surplus tools from a hand barrow in Kingston-upon-Thames in 1919. The company's first warehouse was soon purchased, which launched the Draper Tool Company Limited. Norman Draper, Bert's son, was a key figure in the development of the business and the brand from the 1950s. Through a policy of importing quality tools from overseas he built the 'Draper' brand into the global enterprise of modern times.
Draper Tools is now run by Bert Draper's grandson, from 400,000 sq ft. premises in Hampshire. The degree to which the founding family are still so closely involved at boardroom level is rare in UK industry, but anyone familiar with the Draper history will not be surprised, considering the unique nature of the company. Renowned for exceptional standards of design, efficiency and durability, Draper tools represent the best of British hardware.
