Sponsorship Highlight: Moogie Wonderland

Moogie Wonderland is making waves by breaking down barriers to music and fostering creative electronics learning. Rapid Electronics proudly supports this project, providing essential parts and equipment. Our sponsorship enables Moogie Wonderland to showcase the inner workings of oscillators and clock dividers, using the 4024 chip, allowing kids to explore and understand square or pulse waves on an oscilloscope.

Don't miss the chance to experience the culmination of this creativity. Join Moogie on December 6th for the Electronic Ensembles Concert, where the Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra will craft a symphony of electronic music and live visuals featuring modular synths, sensors, tape loops, and more.

The concert will include several modular synths, which are a mixture of hand-built and professional quality synths that are usually out of reach of children, particularly those who face challenges such as being from low-income families.

Thanks to Rapid's support, we're incorporating Arduino with ultrasonic sensors, letting children control parameters in the VCV Rack. This quadraphonic experience teaches kids how electronics can move sound. We've even connected a plant to synths, allowing control voltage signals to change pitches. Live visual programming using Touch Designer and MIDI controllers is a new addition, with plans to integrate Arduino and Raspberry Pi in the future. Rapid's support has been crucial in developing new instruments and expanding our educational offerings, and their support of the tuition element of the project (synth building, using signal generators and oscilloscopes to understand waveforms) has meant some of the kids have already started getting synth kits and building their own modules. - Matt Ashdown, Director, Moogie Wonderland
