STEM Clubs Week 2016

STEM Clubs Week 2016
This week (February 1-5) is STEM Clubs Week 2016 - and Rapid vouchers are available to the winning schools in the official photo competition for the event.

STEM clubs from schools around the UK are encouraged to submit a photo or video of their club and a 50-word supporting statement of why their club is so special. There are an enormous number of STEM clubs in the UK, helping students develop and apply their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in lunchtime or after-school activities. Students get involved with experiments, demonstrations and projects in a wide range of subjects and disciplines, including robotics, programming, coding, astronomy, physics ... in fact, anything at all that fires their imaginations or fuels their interest in STEM. STEM clubs also develop teamwork and leadership skills, help teachers in different departments to work together and encourage schools to build links with industry, employers, universities and UTCs.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories:

  • Most unusual type of STEM Club
  • Best use of a STEM Ambassador in a STEM Club
  • Most original STEM Clubs Activity

£200 of Rapid Education vouchers are available for the winners of each category. A VEX IQ Super Kit is also up for grabs for the winner of the Best Overall Submission. Judged by the Science Museum and STEMNET, the STEM Clubs Week competition is open to STEM Clubs from state funded, secondary schools throughout the UK.
