Q. Are these equivalent in light output to a 50W GU10 or would I need the 6W version?

A. Hi Geoff, The beam of these will be narrower and not quite the same. These are ideal as decorative lighting but not as light to work by. You may need 2 or 3 of these to light the same area as halogen due to the differences in the angle of the beam.
