A. Hi Peter. Thank you for your question. The unit is a maintained light fitting.

Q. Are these units battery backed? If not, what makes these "emergency lights" as opposed to a standard bulkhead fitting?

A. Hi Stephen. Thank you for your question. Yes these have an internal battery that is constantly charged via the mains supply so when the mains fails the battery back up powers the bulbs.
