have used this system for an industrial purpose, to log temperatures in a meat factory where it is necessary to know the temperatures of refrigerators, freezers and processing rooms in close to real time. Not forgetting that industry standard wireless temperature logging systems costs upwards of £3000, some as much as £6000, there is a quite a saving in getting one for under £60! I bought this system from Rapid Electronics and it now works like a dream. There were a couple of teething problems in the beginning but now everything works ok. Some of the sensors are actually located in a brine environment and continue to work regardless. If you work in a food factory and want a cost-effective temperature monitoring solution, this is just the job! With one caveat this is a great product. You can put sensors around your home and they will constanstly send updates as to the temperature in each location. The provided software that interrogates the USB dongle on your always-on PC logs all of these contacts and draws graphs and writes logs of all the info. Ive actually found out quite a lot of useful info about where I need to target heating effort more usefully - and which areas of my house are actually overheated - so its useful. You can also have it email updates if you want to - useful for example if you were monitoring a temperature critical part of your home or office while you were away. Now, that caveat. The provided sensors have trouble getting through more than two brick walls. They only intermittently make contact with the central USB-connected box. However, no problems with using them upstairs or even outside. Just dont put more than 2 doubleskinned brick walls in the way. However, Arexx say that they do a higher power sensor (the "E version") that you can buy direct from them if you have this problem. Mount all sensors and the receiver box up as high as you can and this should work well for you as it does for me - exceot out in my garage where I am going to have to put an E sensor.
